Membership Questions
Do I have to be a member to participate in Club activities or go on a trip?
No. You don't have to join the Club to participate in the Club's activities. While
membership is preferred, our aim is to encourage and facilitate people to experience the great New Zealand outdoors.
How do I become a member?
You have to have completed three overnight non Ruapehu Lodge based
Club trips, two of which are of a tramping or mountaineering nature. The reason for this requirement is to check you like tramping, you like our
Club and the way we do things, and this gives us the chance to get to know you.
After having completed the three trips, a membership application form should be filled out and handed to the Membership Officer along with a
cheque to cover the joining fee and the membership fee.
What benefits are there for becoming a member?
As a member you will receive a newsletter every month or so, a
journal every year or so, reduced rates on Club transport, member rates at
the Ruapehu Lodge.
